Muscle-signalling research proteins & peptides
Myostatin-pathway proteins and IGF-1-family peptides for laboratory research on ActRIIB / SMAD signalling, satellite-cell activation and myoblast proliferation.
The myostatin / activin pathway
GDF-8 (myostatin) is a TGF-β-superfamily ligand that signals through the ActRIIB receptor and SMAD2/3. Follistatin-344 binds and neutralises myostatin and activins, ACE-031 is a soluble ActRIIB-Fc ligand trap, and ACE-083 is a follistatin-based fusion protein designed for local action in pre-clinical models.
Having the ligand and its inhibitors in one range makes it straightforward to set up controls.
The IGF-1 family
IGF-1 LR3 and IGF-1 DES are IGF-1 analogues with reduced binding to IGF-binding proteins; MGF is the E-domain peptide of the IGF-1Ec splice variant, and PEG-MGF is its PEGylated, longer-lasting form.

Frequently asked questions
What does ACE-031 do in a research model?
It acts as a ligand trap: the soluble ActRIIB-Fc protein binds myostatin and related TGF-β-family proteins, so they cannot signal through the cell-surface receptor.
MGF or PEG-MGF?
PEG-MGF is MGF conjugated to polyethylene glycol, which protects it from rapid enzymatic breakdown and extends its activity in experimental systems.
How are these products stored?
Lyophilised at −20 °C, protected from light; reconstitute immediately before in-vitro use.
Are these products for human use?
No. Everything in this range is supplied strictly as laboratory research material for in-vitro use. It is not a medicine, food, supplement or cosmetic and is not for human or veterinary use.
